The S&W model 19 was introduced in 1956. It has served as a law enforcement sidearm in many jurisdictions over the past few decades. Many model 19's are available on the US surplus market in very good condition due to the steady stream of police department trade-ins.

The Smith & Wesson .32 caliber top-break revolvers were manufactured throughout the late 19th century and into the early part of the 20th. They are similar in many regards to the .38 caliber top-break models, but are constructed on a much smaller and lighter frame.
