C H E C K L I S T

Before you make an appointment for fingerprinting and photographing, 
please make sure that you have completed the following steps:

1.    You have taken your handgun safety class, or can provide 
documentation of handgun training.

2.	You have the application and fingerprint cards (if the 
fingerprint cards are included in the packet) properly and 
completely filled out, and all necessary identification, 
documentation, certification and letters. If you do not have 
everything you need, you will not be processed and will have to reschedule.

3.	You have your residence address on the application and 
fingerprint cards. A P.O. box, or other mailing address will 
not be acceptable and may be considered falsification.  You may 
write in a mailing address underneath your home address on the 
application, but be sure to note it as mailing address.

4.	You have one check or money order for $65.00 made payable 
to Multnomah County. WE WILL NOT ACCEPT CASH. Please have check 
made out when you come in for your appointment.

* Any returned check will be assessed a fee.  You will not be 
issued your handgun license until the check has cleared and/or 
fees have been paid.

5.	You have your current address on your ODL.  If the ODL 
address is different from your listed home address, you must 
include a letter of explanation, and you will need to bring proof 
that you reside at the home address listed on your application.  
Once you are issued a concealed handgun license, failure to notify 
the Sheriff's Office of an address change may result in the 
revocation of your license.

6.	Washington Residents: Have your letter from Mental Health 
and a letter stating your "reason".

Please call 251-2417 for your appointment, MONDAY through 
FRIDAY, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  If no answer, please leave name 
and number on recorder, and we'll call back as soon as possible.

Concealed handgun licensing is a matter of public record.  
Names, addresses, and phone numbers of permit holders may 
have to be provided on request.

GUN CLASSES

Documentation for Handgun Use:

1)	Firearm safety course from above list.
2)	Currently competes and has classification 
card - I.P.S.A., U.S.P.S.A., etc.
3)	Military training record with specific training in handguns noted.
4)	Current Oregon concealed handgun license.
