The N-Frame revolvers are the largest revolvers Smith & Wesson makes. The first N-Frame was the 44 Hand Ejector introduced in 1908, chambered in 44 Special. This was also called the New Century Model. The 44 Hand Ejector is essentially K-frame scaled up, with the addition of a locking point at the frame barrel-lug interface. This is the third lock that gives this gun it's nickname of the "Triple Lock". This third lock was dropped in 1915 (see III.B.2.d.1. Names and Numbers ) due to the cost of fitting

Historically this frame has been chambered in 45 ACP, 357 Mag. 44 Mag 38 Special, 38-40, 44-40, 44 Special, 455 Webely, 45 Colt, 10mm Auto, and 41 Magnum.

The current offerings are in 41 Magnum, 44 Magnum, and 45 ACP.

As of June/8/1995, the current N-Frames are:
