The PDW stands for Personal Defense Weapon. This is the same gun as the MP5K with these added features. Three Lug Barrel: this is hard to describe without looking at it. It basically allows for quick attachment and detachment of silencers, flash hiders, blank firing adapters, grenade launchers... Not the same as a threaded barrel although there are threading too. Folding not retracting stock: The story behind the side folding stock is as follows. The stock is not manufacture by HK it is manufactured by Choate Machine & Tool Co. The stock was originally designed for the HK G3/91 rifles but at the request of HK, Choate Machine & Tool Co. redesigned the end piece to make it fit the MP5K series of firearms. Under the contract with HK, Choate Machine & Tool Co. are NOT allowed to sell the PDW folding stock to anybody else.
