4. Microsoft Access Load Database

by Tony Ardito (bologna@sprynet.com)

The database contains two ways to enter data, the first is in a table form, similiar to a spreadsheet. I think this can get cluttered looking. The second is a form which contains a space for all important data such as bullet type, wt., powder types, charge, seating depth, etc... The form contains "pushbuttons" for most functions, such as search, next record, previous record, and my favorite: PRINT. I just print each record out and place it in a notebook that I take to the range. This way I can write down group size, recoil levels, velocities, etc, while I'm shooting. This eliminates the pile of targets that you sort thru when you get home trying to remember which tgt went with which load and at what distance. There is also a report feature which will print out all loads in a nice format, and also a querry function for sorting data. It shouldn't be very difficult to use, as I have never even used Access before I made this file (I learned as I made it), and using an existing file is pretty strait foward. I hope rec.guns subscribers enjoy it, and maybe some more experienced database programmers can expand upon it and share it with the rest of us.
